Special Olympics Frederick County Welcomes New Athletes Year Round

Frederick County Special Olympics provides a year-round training and competitive sports program for Frederick County children and adults with intellectual disabilities and/or closely related developmental disabilities.

Eligibility:

Any individual who has been identified as having an intellectual (or cognitive) disability by a medical professional or agency is eligible to be a Special Olympics Maryland – Frederick County athlete. Athletes must be at least 8 years old to compete with no maximum age limit.

In addition, we have a Young Athletes Program (YAP) for children ages 3-7. This program focuses on fundamental skill acquisition through play and preparing them for training and competition in our year-round sports programs. Our Young Athletes Program is open to children with and without intellectual disabilities.

Due to the generosity of our supporters, all Special Olympics programs are offered at no cost to our athletes.
