Congratulations to Coach Greta Harrison on being named 2018 Special Olympics Maryland Coach of the Year! Coach Greta is a Special Education Teacher in Frederick County Public Schools and is highly involved in both the Interscholastic Unified Sports (IUS) program and Community Sports Program of Frederick County. Her involvement dates back to 2009 when she was a member of the inaugural IUS program in Frederick County at Urbana High School for track and field. Since then, Greta has engaged many students in Unified Track, Bocce, Tennis, and even serves as Team Captain of the Oakdale Bears Cool Schools Plunge Team that has raised over $40,000 for Special Olympics Maryland! Greta has also served as Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and Unified Partner in both tennis and bocce for the Frederick Community Program. On a daily basis, Greta embodies the mission of Special Olympics Maryland and works tirelessly to build a world where opportunity is not limited by disability! As part of her recognition as Special Olympics Maryland Coach of the Year, Greta is Maryland's nominee for Special Olympics North America Coach of the Year.
